Our Services
Providing Direct Help
When there is no willing or suitable person to act as the guardian or conservator for an individual whom the Probate and Family Court has determined lacks sufficient decision-making capacity, PGS may be appointed as the “guardian or conservator of last resort”. Case Managers who will be employees of PGS will act as the surrogate decision-makers for such persons and will be responsible for all statutory court reporting requirements.

Public Guardian Services is also a place to turn for family members and other people acting as guardians for someone in need. Guardianship

Conservatorship
PGS acts as conservator only when there is no other suitable person or organization to act as conservator for those in need in Suffolk, Norfolk and Plymouth Counties. When called upon we provide stability by making informed decisions about financial affairs, including income and assets, respecting their wishes, preferences, and capacity, maximizing independence, and choosing the least restrictive alternative.
Alternatives to Guardianship
PGS realizes that guardianship should only be considered as an option of last resort when all others have been exhausted. We can help you explore other options such as Supported Decision Making, Power of Attorney & Healthcare Proxy.
