Our Approach
Public Guardian Services provides the best in guardianship services to those who need it in Suffolk, Norfolk and Plymouth Counties. We provide stability by making informed decisions about needed personal, medical, social and housing services while respecting our client’s wishes, preferences, and capacity, maximizing independence, and choosing the least restrictive alternatives.
Our approach as guardian is to support our clients so they can live as independently as possible. Our case managers holistically assess each person’s strengths, abilities, challenges, needs, expectations, aspirations, resources and service requirements though conversations with our clients directly and whenever possible their family, friends, professionals and other supports. The information gathered during our assessments is of utmost importance for our case managers to be appropriately positioned to advocate, encourage their autonomy and assist in making informed decisions for each of our clients.
Our primary goal is to assist our clients only when such assistance is required due to their specific impairment, working towards being as least intrusive in our clients’ lives as possible. Managing a balance between support and self-determination. This balance requires the engagement of our client’s support system, which PGS staff collaborate closely with to ensure each client needs are met with dignity and respect.
